Volunteer in South Africa

South Africa fascinates the World with it's variety of exotic animals, fantastic beaches, snow-covered mountains, impressive desert landscapes, forests, areas of wine cultivation and pulsating large cities.

This "Rainbow Nation" is shaped by the combination of numerous cultures, religions and lifestyles.

Our Volunteers have to chance to make a difference in a large number of nonprofit projects, mostly in the Cape region and along the Garden Route.

Available projects:
1) We offer over 60 projects within the social range (children's homes and other projects for socially disadvantaged or handicapped children, handicapped or elderly people)
2) Animal protection projects (unfortunately there are limited projects available, frequently connected with extra fees)
3) Structure of the tourism

Conditions

For your application to be successful, you would have to be:

  • Min. 18 years of age.
  • Speak English well.
  • Must be willing to take part in the chosen project for the minimum term of 2 months.
  • In possession of a valid Passport.
  • Be open to new foreign cultures and lifestyles.
  • Be flexible and can deal with problems independently.
  • Have endurance and a passion for widening your experiences.
 

 

Working information

As a Volunteer, you should be willing to take part in the chosen project for at least 2 months with the option to extend the stay to a maximum of 1 year.

The working conditions and hours vary from one project to the next. Usually it is a full time job with hours varying between 5 - 8 hours per day. Weekends are usually free. You can arrange your working hours with your Project Leader to give you time for extended ventures and trips to explore more of South Africa.

Visa Requirements
Stay and entry requirements:

  • A valid acceptable passport or travel document good for a sufficient period to cover the intended stay.
  • A valid visa, if required. (If you have decided to stay a maximum period of 90 days, you will not need a visa to enter South Africa. )

  • Sufficient funds.
  • A return or onward ticket.
  • At least two blank pages in your passport.
  • Yellow fever certificates are required if the journey starts or entails passing through the yellow fever belt of Africa or South America.
    Please know that we will assist you with your visa requirements if you need help.

Application Procedure and Support

When you wish to work as a Volunteer in South Africa, you can apply online and we will contact you with further information and help you through the process of your application. Specials are running at the moment... some project fees are only €998.00...so register soon.

You would need to supply us with:

  • A completed application form (Online)
  • 1 photograph of you (similar to a passport photo)
  • Acceptance of Terms and Conditions (you will be able to accept the Terms and Condition on your online application form. Please note it is very important to read and understand these Terms & Conditions.)
  • Copy of your Passport
  • References

    Once we have received your application forms we will contact you and offer you a choice of projects in accordance with your preferences. Projects in Children's Homes, Rehabilitation Centers and other social fields are possible including animal protection projects. After you have chosen your Project, we will assist you in finding a affordable flight, will assist you in visa requirements (if needed) and help you prepare for your venture to South Africa.

    We take care of you from start to finish:

    * Cape Town Airport collection and drop-off.
    * A 5-day orientation tour of Cape Town as per itinerary.
    *Tour to Stellebosch – wine tasting, including a tour to Kayamandi township where
    people live in squatter camps.
    * Table Mountain by cable car.
    * Peninsula tour to Cape Point and Boulder 's Beach Penguin colony.
    * 5-day hostel accommodation including breakfast.
    * Transfers to/from your project.
    * A 24-hour emergency hotline.
    * Project pre-placement before arrival in South Africa.
    * Provide the volunteer with an official invitation letter from the project to apply for a volunteer visa. (If necessary)
    * A certificate of completion.
    * Monthly telephonically check-ups to ensure volunteer is happy.

    After you introduction to your 'Volunteer Country' you will be more familiar with the country and will find the Project a great experience.

A special price of all projects are available at the moment at €998.00. Please view Project options below for further information.

· Group A
Program Fees are from €998.00 which includes Board & Lodging unless specified on Project Details.

Flight costs, pocket money and medical insurance are not included and for the cost of the applicant. We suggest you calculate ca. €300.00 per month pocket money. Medical insurance must be arranged in your home country before departure.
Extra program fees are €250.00 and extended 3 months program fees are €120.00. (Please note all fees are calculated on exchange rate and may vary.)

· Group B
Program Fees are €998.00 which do not included Board & Lodging unless specified on Project Details. Accommodation would calculate at ca. €300.00 per month in a Host Family (supplied by Project Organizer).

Flight costs, pocket money and medical insurance are not included and for the cost of the applicant. We suggest you calculate ca. €300.00 per month pocket money. Medical insurance must be arranged in your home country before departure.
Extra program fees are €250.00 and extended 3 months program fees are €120.00. (Please note all fees are calculated on exchange rate and may vary.)

· Group C (mostly wildlife projects)
Program Fees are €998.00 which do not included Board & Lodging unless specified on Project Details. Board & Lodging would calculate at ca. €300.00 per week on Project premises unless specified on Project Details.

Flight costs, pocket money and medical insurance are not included and for the cost of the applicant. We suggest you calculate ca. €300.00 per month pocket money. Medical insurance must be arranged in your home country before departure.

Extra program fees are €250.00 and extended 3 months program fees are €120.00 (Please note all fees are calculated on exchange rate and may vary.)

Plus Volunteers receive free
accommodation but need to buy their own food and prepare their own meals. The cost can be between €100 to €200 per month, depending on volunteers food preference.
